Belfast, the capital city of Northern Ireland, is a busy town with a bustling city centre that is a popular place with tourists and locals. Like any big city there is lots to do with shops, bars and restaurants, cultural sites and other entertainment venues.

Culture

Belfast City Centre is home to iconic landmark buildings such as Belfast City Hall and the historic Grand Opera House. There are several museums, including the unique Titanic Belfast Museum, as well as museums documenting the turbulent history of Northern Ireland. There is also a vibrant art and music scene which can be appreciated in the Cathedral Quarter, known for its lively pubs, galleries, and street art.

Family-friendly Activities Around Belfast

Families visiting Belfast City Centre shouldn't miss the W5 Interactive Discovery Centre, with its hands-on exhibits and activities focused on science and technology that will appeal to children of all ages. You can also enjoy a  leisurely stroll through Victoria Park or visit the Belfast Zoo, just north of the city, to see a variety of animals from around the world.

Sport

Belfast City Centre has plenty for sports lovers too, with many sporting facilities and outdoor spaces. The Victoria Square Shopping Centre houses a state-of-the-art gym and swimming pool, ideal for those looking to stay active during their visit. Additionally, Ormeau Park has tennis courts, soccer fields, bowling greens and jogging trails for the public's use.

Parking and Road Access

There are several car parks near the centre but, like any capital city, parking can be harder to find at peak hours, so you may find it easier to park further out and  take a bus into town. Victoria Square Car Park and Castle Court Car Park are well-placed for shopping and the main attractions and the city centre is easily walkable. The M1 and M2 motorways are accessible from the city allowing drivers to connect Dublin and other towns and cities across Ireland.

Rental Policies

Additional Drivers - There is an additional charge of 10 GBP per day for each Additional Authorised Driver.

AGE - All drivers must be a minimum of 25 years old. Only drivers over 30 years old may rent Full-Size MPVS, Premiums, or Four-Wheel Drives.

For vehicles travelling to the Republic of Ireland, there is an additional charge of 75 GBP per rental. Please call the branch in advance. Vehicles may not travel outside the U.K. and Ireland.

DAMAGE WAIVER IS INCLUDED IN THE PRICE OF THE RENTAL, SUBJECT TO THE TERMS AND CONDITIONS OF THE RENTAL AGREEMENT. DAMAGE WAIVER REDUCES THE AMOUNT YOU ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR IN THE EVENT OF DAMAGE TO AND OR THEFT OF THE VEHICLE. THE EXCESS AMOUNTS APPLICABLE WITH DAMAGE WAIVER ARE- ALL CARS – 1000.00 GBP- MINI MPVS, MPVS AND COMMERCIAL VEHICLES - 1150.00 GBP, ALL PREMIUMS AND 4X4S EQUALS 1400.00 GBP. IN NORTHERN IRELAND THE EXCESS ON ALL COMMERCIAL VEHICLES IS 1400.00 GBP

All rentals where the vehicle is not returned to the same location as it was rented from will be subject to a one-way fee of up to £150. One-way rentals are allowed within all the UK, including Northern Ireland.

In the event of damage and or theft, an excess is applicable which varies depending on vehicle type and location. Excess Protection will cover up to 900.00 GBP of any damage, subject to terms and conditions of the rental agreement. The customer can reduce or eliminate possible financial exposure caused by loss or damage to the rental vehicle. The following excess amounts apply, all cars 1000.00 GBP, MINI MPVs, MPVs 1150.00 GBP, commercial vehicles 1150.00 GBP, commercial vehicles in Northern Ireland 1400 GBP, premiums and 4x4s 1400.00 GBP. Excess protection is an optional coverage that allows the renter to reduce the excess responsibility by 900 GBP. The price of EP varies by vehicle size and the prices are inclusive of VAT - premium location fee applies to airports - all vehicles except commercials - 11.99 GBP per day, Small Commercial Van - 14.99 GBP per day and all other Commercial Vans - 19.99 GBP per day.

Excess Protection is an optional coverage that reduces the applicable Damage Waiver excess (see Damage Waiver terms) to all cars 100.00 GBP, MINI MPVs, MPVs and commercial vehicles 250.00 GBP, all premiums and 4x4s 500.00 GBP. In Northern Ireland the reduced excess on all commercial vehicles is 500.00 GBP. You may wish to check if your personal coverage is adequate to cover damage, theft, loss of revenue, administration fees, diminishment of value, and any towing, storage or impound fees. If you decline Excess Protection then you are required to pay any applicable Damage Waiver excess and seek compensation from your carrier. The price of Excess Protection varies by vehicle size and the prices are inclusive of VAT. Premium location fee applies to airports.

Mileage- all vehicles include unlimited mileage.

Payment- if the rental is not prepaid, the renter must pay a deposit and the full rental charges using a major debit or credit card in his or her own name. If the rental is prepaid, the renter must pay a deposit using a major debit or credit card in his or her own name. The deposit is 200 GBP, or 500 GBP if renting a premium vehicle. Payment by a credit card in the main drivers name will be required to rent premium vehicles . If the debit or credit card differs from that used to prepay the rental charges, an additional 200 GBP deposit is required.

Enterprise offers roadside assistance protection – Rap. Rap allows enterprise customers to waive all financial responsibility for the following - tire and glass repair or replacement costs, except when part of a larger repair, replacement keys costs, and all recovery and call out charges imposed by our chosen roadside assistance providers as result of a fault caused by renter error. Rap does not exempt you from these charges if there is any breach of our rental agreement. The price of rap is 4.99 GBP per day.

Documentation- all drivers must produce all parts of a valid driving license. Non-EU license holders are required to have an international driving permit if the license is not in English. Domestic renters must produce a photo ID- passport or driving license. International travelers must produce a passport, proof of return travel and residency information while in the U.K. renters who wish to use a debit card are also required to produce two proofs of address such as a bank or credit card statement, which are less than three months old and may be subject to additional checks. We reserve the right to request additional ID or conduct further ID checks. These may include ID checks with external partners who may check supplied details against databases to which they have access.
