Excellent links to the M4 and M25 enable straightforward journey planning to the south and west of England, Home Counties and other London airports, including Gatwick and Stansted.

Nearby attractions include Windsor Castle and Eton College. Alternatively, there is always something going on in London's West End; this famous part of the capital boasts a diverse choice of culture, entertainment, restaurants and shopping. See busy Oxford Street, characteristic red double-decker buses and famous sights such as the London Eye, River Thames, Buckingham Palace and Big Ben.

Driving Information at Heathrow Airport

From Heathrow, central London is as little as 30 minutes away by car in light traffic. If driving to the centre, consider leaving as early as possible at peak periods. Be aware that you will probably need to pay the congestion charge so, if you are trying to get to the other side of London, taking the M25 outer ring road is probable a quicker and cheaper option than driving through the centre.  

The M25 is easily accessed from Heathrow and intersects with all the main motorways heading throughout the country so, whatever your destination, you can be on your way in good time.

Attractions around Heathrow

If you are staying around Heathrow your hire car will give you easy access to visit the nearby towns of Staines and Hounslow, where there is a variety of shopping opportunities, with a blend of fine restaurants and bars.

Hounslow Urban Farm is great for the whole family and has a range of exotic and farm animals that are used to visitors. Bedfont Lakes Country Park is just a stone’s throw away from Heathrow and is an ideal place to relax and unwind, with the Animal Rescue Centre proving a hit with most visitors.

Places to Visit Near Heathrow

Heathrow is ideally situated to take advantage of several attractions in the surrounding areas, and with fantastic links to all the major motorways in the area, most of them are easily and quickly reached in your hire car.

Thorpe Park is just 15 minutes from Heathrow Airport, so make use of your car hire by taking the whole family on the quick drive to this popular amusement park. With over 30 rides and attractions, including no less than five exciting and hair-raising roller coaster rides, Thorpe Park is family fun guranteed.

Just east of Heathrow lies Windsor Castle, the world's largest and oldest still-to-this-day-occupied castle, belonging to the Royal Family. Eton College, where a large percentage of British Prime Ministers were educated, is just a short drive from here, too, and is worth a visit.

Rental Policies

Additional Drivers - There is an additional charge of 10 GBP per day for each Additional Authorised Driver.

An out of hours key box is available and located to the side of the car hire building where you will park in the returns area. All vehicles must be returned here, and customers will be transported back to the airport via the courtesy shuttle bus. Vehicles will be checked in during normal office hours. The customer will be liable for all penalty fines or parking fees if the vehicle is returned to any other car park.

AGE - All drivers must be a minimum of 25 years old. Only drivers over 30 years old may rent Full-Size MPVS, Premiums, or Four-Wheel Drives.

For vehicles travelling to the Republic of Ireland, there is an additional charge of 75 GBP per rental. Please call the branch in advance. Vehicles may not travel outside the U.K. and Ireland.

Damage waiver is included in the price of the rental, subject to the terms and conditions of the rental agreement. Damage waiver reduces the amount you are responsible for in the event of damage to and or theft of the vehicle. The excess amounts applicable with damage waiver are- all cars – 1000.00 GBP- MINI MPVs, MPVs and commercial vehicles - 1150.00 GBP all premiums and 4x4s equals 1400.00 GBP.

This is the location-specific DROP policy for LHR. It should only appear for LHR.

In the event of damage and or theft, an excess is applicable which varies depending on vehicle type and location. Excess protection will cover 900.00 GBP of damage, subject to terms and conditions of the rental agreement. The following excess amounts apply- all cars- 1000.00 GBP, mini MPVs and MPVs-1150.00 GBP, premium vehicles and 4x4s – 1400.00 GBP. Excess protection is an optional coverage that allows the renter to reduce the excess responsibility by 900.00 GBP the price of EP is 16.25 GBP per day including VATand PLC fees.

Excess Protection is an optional coverage that reduces the applicable Damage Waiver excess (see Damage Waiver terms) to all cars 100.00 GBP, MINI MPVs, MPVs and commercial vehicles 250.00 GBP, all premiums and 4x4s 500.00 GBP. In Northern Ireland the reduced excess on all commercial vehicles is 500.00 GBP. You may wish to check if your personal coverage is adequate to cover damage, theft, loss of revenue, administration fees, diminishment of value, and any towing, storage or impound fees. If you decline Excess Protection then you are required to pay any applicable Damage Waiver excess and seek compensation from your carrier. The price of Excess Protection varies by vehicle size and the prices are inclusive of VAT. Premium location fee applies to airports.

Mileage- all vehicles include unlimited mileage.

Payment- if the rental is not prepaid, the renter must pay a deposit and the full rental charges using a major debit or credit card in his or her own name. If the rental is prepaid, the renter must pay a deposit using a major debit or credit card in his or her own name. The deposit is 200 GBP, or 500 GBP if renting a premium vehicle. Payment by a credit card in the main drivers name will be required to rent premium vehicles . If the debit or credit card differs from that used to prepay the rental charges, an additional 200 GBP deposit is required.

ENTERPRISE OFFERS ROADSIDE ASSISTANCE PROTECTION-RAP. RAP ALLOWS ENTERPRISE CUSTOMERS TO WAIVE ALL FINANCIAL RESPONSIBILITY FOR THE FOLLOWING-TYRE AND GLASS REPAIR OR REPLACEMENT COSTS, EXCEPT WHEN PART OF A LARGER REPAIR, REPLACEMENT KEYS COSTS AND ALL RECOVERY AND CALL CHARGES IMPOSED BY OUR CHOSEN ROADSIDE ASSISTANCE PROVIDERS AS RESULT OF A FAULT CAUSED BY RENTER ERROR. RAP DOES NOT EXEMPT YOU FROM THESE CHARGES IF THERE IS ANY BREACH OF OUR RENTAL AGREEMENT. THE PRICE OF RAP IS 5.75 GBP PER DAY.

Documentation- all drivers must produce all parts of a valid driving license. Non-EU license holders are required to have an international driving permit if the license is not in English. Domestic renters must produce a photo ID- passport or driving license. International travelers must produce a passport, proof of return travel and residency information while in the U.K. renters who wish to use a debit card are also required to produce two proofs of address such as a bank or credit card statement, which are less than three months old and may be subject to additional checks. We reserve the right to request additional ID or conduct further ID checks. These may include ID checks with external partners who may check supplied details against databases to which they have access.
